Your gift to help a hardworking entrepreneur will double in impact thanks to a generous World Vision partner.
“When I look at my children, I really thank God for where He has brought us from,” says Sarah. "My life as a child was so different,” Sarah recalls, “we used to eat only one meal a day and I had difficulty in school, often being sent home because my single Mom could not afford school fees.”
Sarah started her business cooking doughnuts on a cement slab in front of her home. Whenever it rained, she would have to shut down business.
Sarah has received several loans from World Vision over the years to build up her bakery business. Together Sarah and her husband now sell 10 different varieties of plain cakes including vanilla cupcakes, doughnuts, block cakes, and scones. They also employ 5 young men from the neighborhood, bringing jobs to the community.
“It gives me joy to see my children now,” says Sarah, “they eat well and even have enough to share with their teachers and friends!”“Even though I could not continue my schooling, my desire is that through this business my children can learn- up to university - that’s what I tell them and I know they can do it,” says Sarah.
“The children feel good about our life now,” says Sarah, “They are proud that we have a bakery and a shop. I hear them tell their friends. The other day Christine told her father that when she finishes university she will come and help us expand the business and improve it. To tell you the truth, VisionFund has lifted me!”
