Voeurt is from Cambodia. She needs a loan of $450 to buy a walking tractor.
Voeurt is a rice farmer who also raises pigs. She needed a walking tractor to assist her in plowing her rice field. This World Vision loan is helping to fund the tractor, which has one axle and can tow various farm implements. Being a creative entrepreneur, she uses it to help her plow and for transportation, but also to provide plowing and transportation service in her village. This, and her efforts, definitely increase her profits.
Her business requires pre-season money to buy fertilizer and seed, and to hire workers to help her cultivate. However, in the past she could not afford this and she also could not pay her children’s education fees. She would like to strengthen and expand her business and add to her savings for the spring farm costs.
Voeurt has 2 children. Her farm provides for their basic needs, but she wants to improve their quality of life. The additional income will help to provide eduction for her children.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
