Patricia 's Story

When Patricia Sanchez Martinez and her husband first got married they did not have a stable income. Because of the lack of money she began to work as day worker but became pregnant and could only work a few months. At work, a friend told her about World Vision and she entered her daughter in her community’s child sponsorship program. Eventually she heard about World Vision’s microenterprise program and applied for a loan.

With her first loan Patricia bought bedding and sold them house to house. Now her clients come to her home. She wants to use this loan to buy a larger quantity and variety of bedding for her business. Being able to stay home is important because her youngest daughter is only a month old. Patricia says that her dream is to have a bedding store and be able to buy a home for my children and provide for their education. She says, “Thank you for the help and thanks to God that there are still good people in the world”

Patricia and her family live in San Andres de la Cañada. She is 28 years old, married and has two daughters.

Patricia 's Final Update April 14, 2010

Patricia is very happy with her loan and with the profits that she was able to earn. She used the profits to buy clothing for her older daughter as well as cover some of her schooling expenses. She was especially glad that her business has become more profitable because of the expense of the diapers needed by her younger daughter.

Unfortunately, we are sorry to report that Patricia did not want take other picture. The community she lives in has experienced a lot of violence recently and the idea of a photograph made her fearful for her children and herself.

Please pray both for Patricia and the World Vision staff living and working in these difficult circumstances.

Thank you again for your support. This loan was repaid in full.
