Sumini is from Indonesia. She needs a loan of $225 to purchase duck feed and ducklings.
Sumini raises and sells ducks in Cilincing, Jakarta City. She buys ducklings, feeds them to increase their size and value, and then sells them.
Her challenge which she is facing right now is the high price of the duck feed. She needs to carefully make the feed by herself in order to get the right nutrition for the duck to grow.
With a loan from World Vision, Sumini will be able to buy more ducklings and duck feed. As the business grows, she hopes to hire an assistant to help her.
The additional income she earns will help her to keep her children at school and provide better nutrition for them.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
