A mother of four children, Tadelech works hard to make her living from agriculture; she supplies various types of grains to the local market. She's confident and encouraged that she can run her business profitably. “If I get a loan, I can start another business like planting vegetables in my garden,” she said. Money is scarce for basic things, such as fertilizer, that she needs to ensure her crops stay healthy.
A World Vision micro loan will allow Tadelech to purchase fertilizer to maximize her crop yield. Tadelech also has a plan to expand her business: she wants to participate in cattle raising to generate more income.
By reinvesting in her business, she can improve the life style of her family. The additional income she generates will allow Tadelech's children to stay in school. She can cover the costs of school supplies and clothing.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
