Adanech is from Ethiopia. She has 6 children. She needs a loan of $175 to buy an ox for farming.
Adanech is a farmer with six children. She knows a lot about agriculture and what is needed for the harvest but lacks the resources to buy oxen and other necessities to develop her farm.
With a loan from World Vision Adanech will be able to buy fertilizer, seeds, and oxen in order to cultivate her plot of land earlier in the season and more quickly. The profits will enable her to meet her family's basic needs and provide her children with a good education. In the future she hopes to expand her business and to have her own grain store in her area. She also plans to participate in other business ventures like cattle fattening.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
