Adanech, the mother of four, is an optimist who enjoys generating income from agriculture. She feels that she's in a good position to run her farm for profit. “If I get a loan, I can start another business. I can buy cattle for fattening. I can easily make a profit,” she said.
Adanech is requesting a World Vision micro loan to purchase fertilizer so she can maximize her crop yield. “What is good about my business is that it is growing." Adanech wants to expand her business, especially sheep and cattle fattening.
The additional income will allow Adanech to send her children to school, improve her family's nutrition and cover basic needs. She will sell more products to her community, including meat and milk.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
