Your gift to help a hardworking entrepreneur will double in impact thanks to a generous World Vision partner.
Adanech is from Ethiopia. She has 4 children. She needs a loan of $175 to buy fertilizer.
Adanech, the mother of four, is an optimist who enjoys generating income from agriculture. She feels that she's in a good position to run her farm for profit. “If I get a loan, I can start another business. I can buy cattle for fattening. I can easily make a profit,” she said.
Adanech is requesting a World Vision micro loan to purchase fertilizer so she can maximize her crop yield. “What is good about my business is that it is growing." Adanech wants to expand her business, especially sheep and cattle fattening.
The additional income will allow Adanech to send her children to school, improve her family's nutrition and cover basic needs. She will sell more products to her community, including meat and milk.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
There is no community update available at this time.
While Adanech Shemalo initially invested her business loan into purchasing fertilizer for improving her crop productivity, she has struggled to repay her loan. Although we continued to work with Adanech to help her reestablish her business, we regret to report that she has now defaulted on her loan.
Adanech prays she will someday be able to restart her business so she can better provide for her family. Adanech would like to sincerely thank all the donors who partnered with her. Please pray for Adanech and her family during this difficult time.
Despite the fact that World Vision boasts a repayment rate greater than 98%, there will always be some loans that do not get fully repaid. While World Vision does everything it can to ensure that this does not happen, it is an unfortunate reality that must be recognized when providing loans to less fortunate populations.
