Belete is from Ethiopia. He has 4 children. He needs a loan of $250 to purchase the second ox needed for farming.
Belete is a farmer. He produces cereal and other crops, but the lack of a second ox limited his production. In order to do much of the work on the farm, he would have search for a second ox to borrow from a neighbor.
With a loan from World Vision, Belete will be able to purchase a second ox. With a pair of oxen, he can use his time more productively. With the increase in production from his crops, he hopes to be able to purchase and support additional animals for both work and resale. "The additional income", he said, "will enable me send my children to school and cover every cost related to their education."

The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
