Aklil is from Ethiopia. He has 4 children. He needs a loan of $200 to purchase more cattle.
Aklil makes a living by raising cattle. At his current level of operation, his business is only marginally sustainable. He does not generate enough income to invest in his business to make it more profitable. His goal is to expand his cattle raising so he can improve living conditions for his family.
Aklil is requesting a loan from World Vision to purchase more cattle. With the additional income he will earn from this improvement, he plans to continue to invest in and improve his business. He will be able to provide the basic necessities for his family and send his four children to a better school. Eventually, Aklil plans to ensure a more stable financial future for his family by buying a grinding mill and starting a new business.
In areas where the poor live alongside the more affluent, businesses in the service sector can be very successful. Services include flower cultivation, tailoring/sewing, transportation, repair work, beauty salons and barber shops, and restaurants. Loans are needed to begin, expand, or sustain business with tools and supplies. Loans given to entrepreneurs in the service sector account for around 7% of our loans.
