Consuelo is from Mexico. She has 4 children. She needs a loan of $475 to buy more sodas to resell.
Consuelo is married to Pablo and they have four children together (three of which are already married). She has been working in the soda business for the past six months. Her main struggle is that during the dry seasons when she runs out of soda, people go to other grocery stores and she loses customers. Consuelo would like to keep her store stocked but she lacks the financial capital to do so.
With a loan from World Vision Consuelo will be able to buy more sodas of different flavors to sell. That way she can increase her customer base and people don't have to go all the way to town. With the profits she earns she will be able to better support her family. Her future goal is to continue working in her soda business and eventually to expand it.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
