Your gift to help a hardworking entrepreneur will double in impact thanks to a generous World Vision partner.
Rehema is from Rwanda. She needs a loan of $850 to restock her boutique.
Rehema, a mother of five in Rwamagana, Rwanda, has a boutique that sells items such as sugar, rice, cooking oil, potatoes, lotion, etc. She currently lacks the capital needed to expand her business as she would like.
With a loan through World Vision, Rehema will be able to restock her variety store, which will help her attract customers and generate sales. She will also be able to employ another individual in her local community. Additional income will allow her to improve the living conditions of her family, pay educational fees for her children, and reinvest in her business.
In the future, Rehema wants to be financially stable and says that she will be able to create jobs for others in her community.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
There is no community update available at this time.
While Rehema initially requested a loan to expand her boutique business, a new opportunity came up shortly after she received the loan. Instead, she invested her loan to buy other things. Based on her knowledge of the community, she believed this was a better investment.
Rehema is making her loan payments on time. Thank you for supporting Rehema and World Vision Micro!
While Rehema Umugwaneza initially invested in her business loan by purchasing to restock her boutique, she has struggled to repay her loan. While we continued to work with Rehema to help her reestablish her business, I regret to report that Rehema has now defaulted on her loan.
Rehema prays that she will someday be able to restart she business so that she can better provide for her family. Rehema would like to sincerely thank the donor who partnered with her efforts. Please pray for Rehema and her family during this difficult time.
Despite the fact that World Vision boasts a repayment rate greater than 98%, there will always be some loans that do not get fully repaid. While World Vision does everything it can to ensure that this does not happen, it is an unfortunate reality that must be recognized when providing loans to less fortunate populations.
