Juana Maria's Story

Juana started her tacos and tortas business a couple of years ago so she could support her son thru school and provide him with a college education.

She wakes up early every morning and starts cooking stews and sauces, and then she takes everything to her refreshment stand and waits for customers to come and eat her delicious tacos and tortas.

She needs this loan to buy tomatoes, hot peppers, onions, garlic, cabbage, bread, tortillas, cheese, coriander, oil and gas to cook and sell.

She hopes that with this investment her business will succeed so she can provide a better quality of education to son.

Juana Maria is 36 years old and she studied up to high school. She is a widow and has a son who is 10 years old and goes to elementary school. She and her family live on the community of Cosolapa, known for its beautiful weather. It’s near a sugarcane area between many hills.

World Vision is working to improve the health of families in Vincente Camalote by providing housing materials for the improvement of living spaces; restoring water tanks for access to clean water; and supporting medical treatment and HIV- and AIDS-awareness campaigns. We are also supporting education by training teachers and tutors and providing spiritual-formation workshops for teens.
