Hilderh is from Kenya. She has 2 children. She needs a loan of $850 to buy tailoring materials.
Hilderh, a mother of two from Kisumu, Kenya, operates a tailoring shop. She faces the challenge of raising capital for her business.
With a loan through World Vision, she will buy clothing material for making new dresses and other clothing as per clientele demands and create two jobs for people in her community. Addional income created from increased sales will allow her to better provide for her family and reinvest in her business.
In the future, Hilderh plans to open a new shop to increase her income and create more employment opportunities.
In areas where the poor live alongside the more affluent, businesses in the service sector can be very successful. Services include flower cultivation, tailoring/sewing, transportation, repair work, beauty salons and barber shops, and restaurants. Loans are needed to begin, expand, or sustain business with tools and supplies. Loans given to entrepreneurs in the service sector account for around 7% of our loans.

Thank you for supporting a small business loan for Hilderh Okwaro to expand her clothing and tailoring/sewing business where she operates a tailoring shop. After receiving the loan from World Vision, she invested the $850 to buy tailoring materials.
Hilderh has been repaying her loan on time with her new profits. She makes weekly payments of $17. In addition to repaying her loan, Hilderh is using her additional income to buy supplies in bulk and expand the current business. Hilderh's 2 children continue to study in school.
Hilderh is doing well, and she appreciates the loan, which has enabled her to increase her profits.
Thank you for supporting Hilderh and World Vision Micro!
While Hilderh Okwaro initially invested in her business loan by purchasing to buy tailoring materials, she has struggled to repay her loan. While we continued to work with Hilderh to help her reestablish her business, we regret to report that Hilderh has now defaulted on her loan.
Hilderh prays that she will someday be able to restart her business so that she can better provide for her family. Hilderh would like to sincerely thank all the donors who partnered with her. Please pray for Hilderh and her family during this difficult time.
Despite the fact that World Vision boasts a repayment rate greater than 98%, there will always be some loans that do not get fully repaid. While World Vision does everything it can to ensure that this does not happen, it is an unfortunate reality that must be recognized when providing loans to less fortunate populations.
