Hilderh, a mother of two from Kisumu, Kenya, operates a tailoring shop. She faces the challenge of raising capital for her business.
With a loan through World Vision, she will buy clothing material for making new dresses and other clothing as per clientele demands and create two jobs for people in her community. Addional income created from increased sales will allow her to better provide for her family and reinvest in her business.
In the future, Hilderh plans to open a new shop to increase her income and create more employment opportunities.
In areas where the poor live alongside the more affluent, businesses in the service sector can be very successful. Services include flower cultivation, tailoring/sewing, transportation, repair work, beauty salons and barber shops, and restaurants. Loans are needed to begin, expand, or sustain business with tools and supplies. Loans given to entrepreneurs in the service sector account for around 7% of our loans.
