Agustina is from Mexico. She has 2 children. She needs a loan of $475 to buy chickens.
Agustina is a 37 year old single mother with two children. Her son Paola del Carmen is 11 and goes to elementary school and her son Francisco Gabriel is 2 years old. They live in Tembladeras, El Castillo, which is an area with many sugarcane plantations a few minutes away from the precinct La Margarita in the state of Oaxaca. Agustina has a business selling chickens. 3 years ago, she realized that selling chickens would be a good business through which she could make enough money to provide a better quality of life for her children.
She wakes up really early each morning to clean and butcher the chickens. Then she sets up a table outside her house and starts selling. The chickens she sells are the best on the market and she has many regular customers. Agustina is requesting a loan to buy feathered chickens and plastic bags to wrap them in. She hopes that this investment in her inventory will help her business to succeed. Her goal is to increase her income enough to provide her children with a proper quality of education.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
