Sophanin is from Cambodia. She has 2 children. She needs a loan of $775 to purchase more pigs.
Sophanin farms and raises pigs for a living. She also sells rice. Because there was not enough rain and she could not afford to irrigate, her rice crop suffered this year.
She wants to expand her rice farm and her rice store. Furthermore, she wants to build a cage for her pigs since she is currently raising pigs without cage.
The additional income is mainly used to support her two children with enough food, clothes and education.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
