Julia is from Kenya. She has 3 children. She needs a loan of $575 to enable her to purchase farm inputs and to pay for labor.
Julia is a small-scale farmer who wants to expand the size of her farming business. The roads near Julia are very poor, which makes transporting her goods difficult. She also lacks capital.
Julia’s goal is to have the maximum yield from her farm and to make her business self-sustaining. Julia’s family is not in a stable position right now. She hopes that this loan will help to improve the living conditions of her children and of her entire family.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.

Thank you for supporting a small business loan for Julia Kashu to expand her farming and food business. After receiving the loan from World Vision, she invested the $575 to purchase farm inputs and to pay for labor.
Julia has been repaying her loan on time with her new profits. She makes weekly payments of $15. In addition to repaying her loan, Julia is using the additional income to pay school fees and purchase fertilizer. Julia's 3 children continue to study in school.
Despite the poor road conditions in her area, Julia is determined to expand her farming activity and reinvest the profits made from the loan she received.
Thank you for supporting Julia and World Vision Micro!
While Julia Kashu initially invested her business loan to make farm improvements and to pay for labor, she has struggled to repay her loan. Although we continued to work with Julie to help her reestablish her business, we regret to report that she has now defaulted on her loan.
Julia prays she will someday be able to restart her business so she can better provide for her family. Julia would like to sincerely thank all the donors who partnered with her. Please pray for Julia and her family during this difficult time.
Despite the fact that World Vision boasts a repayment rate greater than 98%, there will always be some loans that do not get fully repaid. While World Vision does everything it can to ensure that this does not happen, it is an unfortunate reality that must be recognized when providing loans to less fortunate populations.
