Seraphine Mujawamariya is 31 years old, married with no children. She lives in the village called Mataba, in the Gakenke District of the Northern Province. Her house is constructed by mud bricks with tiles on the roof.
Seraphine has a small shop in her village where she sells food items, and she has been in this business since 2007. It was not easy for Seraphine to get enough food for her family before starting the business.
With the new loan she requested, Seraphine will be able to purchase more rice, sugar, vegetables, cooking oil etc. Seraphine hopes to expand her business, get more food for her family, and save money for the future as she earns a larger profit.

The community of Nyarutovu is located in a hilly area, with access to the road that leads into Kigali, Rwanda’s capital city. Families depend on crops, including passion fruit, green vegetables, and bananas, for income. The climate is characterized by three seasons—a short rainy season, a long dry season, and a long rainy season. The area is served by one small river.
More than 2,500 women in the community lost their husbands in the genocide of the 1990s and now struggle to generate income, often while dealing with the effects of HIV and AIDS. Many children in Nyarutovu live in child-headed households, eat only one meal a day, and don’t attend school.
In Nyarutovu, World Vision is constructing classrooms equipped with toilets, providing educational supplies and paying school fees, building homes for orphans and vulnerable children, ensuring that those with HIV and AIDS have access to medical care, and building water tanks for access to safe water.

Seraphine has used her loan from World Vision to purchase a large quantity of food items for her store. She was able to stock-up on sorghum and beans. She has had an increase in her profits which has enabled her to better provide for her family. She is also in the process of paying back her loan. One aspect of her business that is causing her to struggle is that she has to travel a far distance to purchase her goods. She asks for prayer that her business would continue to experience progress. Her ultimate goals are to pay back her loan and send her children to good schools when they are old enough.
Seraphine runs a small store in her village. She used her loan to purchase additional foodstuffs to sell. Because she has expanded her business, she has increased her profits and is able to meet the needs of her family. She is thankful to all of the donors who contributed.
She has repaid her loan in full. These loan funds are now available to help another worthy entrepreneur in Seraphine's community. Thank you for supporting Seraphine and World Vision Micro!
