Jocelyn's Story

For more than 5 years Jocelyn has operated her small business in the Bohol 04-ll region in Philippines. She grows rice, cassava, sweet potatoes, taro, and other crops to sell to customers in her community.

Jocelyn also has a second business where she sells bananas. This second business provides a supplemental income which Jocelyn needs to support her family.

Jocelyn has asked for a loan from World Vision to expand her business. She would like to buy a chisel plow for her fields and bananas to sell to support her family.

Jocelyn is 41 years old and the mother of 3 children, and all 3 are currently studying in school. She also cares for 1 additional dependent in her home.

Industry Info

The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. Jocelyn's Mid Term Update July 31, 2017

Thank you for supporting a small business loan for Jocelyn Maasin to expand her farming, food and retail business. After receiving the loan from World Vision, she invested the $250 to buy a plow and bananas.

Jocelyn has been repaying her loan on time with her new profits. She makes weekly payments of $8.

In addition to repaying her loan, Jocelyn is using additional income to pay school fees, purchase food for the family and purchase fertilizer. Jocelyn's 3 children continue to study in school.
