Ramona has a business making and selling various kinds of snack foods. With a loan from World Vision, Ramona plans to purchase more of the many ingredients she needs to make the variety of foods. This will allow her to expand her business, and the additional income will help provide a better life for Ramona and her family.
Ramona is thirty nine years old, married, and has four children. The older three children attend school, and helping all her children to complete their education is Ramona’s main goal. With this loan, she will be able to support their education and continue to invest in her business. In the future, she hopes to be able to purchase a computer for her daughter, and to continue to invest in and expand her business.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
The small community of Rio Santa Catarina, which derives its name from a local river, has a mountainous terrain and warm climate. Economic opportunities in this community are diverse as a result of its close proximity to the growing city of Ometepec.
In Rio Santa Catarina, World Vision is assisting farmers with production and marketing; educating families on disaster preparedness; and working to improve education through tutoring and teacher training. We are also providing healthcare services, nutritional training, and housing assistance.
Ramona used the loan she received from World Vision to purchase more snack items to offer in her store. She purchased cocoa, sugar candies, chocolates, and other snacks.
Thanks to the loan she received, her business has expanded. Her sales have gone up, as have her profits. Her number of customers has also increased as she has become more popular in the community.
Ramona is a very hardworking and responsible woman; she has never been late on any payments. She wants to be responsible for her loan, because she wants to continue to rely on the financial support of World Vision. Because of World Vision and this loan, she has been able to already provide financial stability for her family.
She would like to thank World Vision and it's donors for the support they have given her and her business.
