For the last six years, Tamire has operated his small farming business in the Durame region in Ethiopia. He grows crops to sell to customers in his community. He operates his farm with the help of one employee.
Tamire is 41 years old and the father of three children, two of whom are currently studying in school.
Tamire has asked for a loan to invest in his current business in order to expand. With the additional investment in his farm, he would like to improve his overall income. The increased income will help him to pay for his children's school fees and carry out home repairs.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
