Berhanesh is from Ethiopia. She needs a loan of $350 to buy fertilizer and select seeds.
Brought up in a rural area, Berhanesh has much experience in dealing with agriculture. She has a small farm on which she works hard in order to provide for her eight children. She wants to effectively run her business in order to maximize her income for her family. Unfortunately, financial constraint has become a serious challenge for Berhanesh.
With a loan from World Vision, Burhanesh says she "will buy fertilizer and select seeds to maximize [her] harvest this season. This will enable [her] to get a good yield.” Berhanesh is an optimistic person. As her business gets better and better, she will have a large number of customers and she will bring in more income. She can also create job opportunities for her friends.
Berhanesh is striving to improve her life. “My business is in a good move. I have to work hard and bring in more income. I am happy with my business. By generating additional income, I want to send my children to school, covering all expenses,” she said. Berhanesh wants to expand her business so that she can provide her family with the things they need. In the future, she also dreams of participating in other business activities such as cattle raising.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
