James supports his family by operating a small convenience store. His main challenge is insufficient capital to keep the store well stocked. Because of this, he has been unable to attract more customers and expand the business. He needs to make his store more profitable so he can improve living conditions for his family.
A loan from World Vision will allow James to purchase rice, cooking oil and sugar for his store. With the additional income he will earn from the sale of these products, he plans to reinvest in the business. He wants to be able to continue to support the education of his six children through college. In the future, he hopes to expand his business to become a larger general store.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
