Susan is from Kenya. She needs a loan of $250 to purchase textile materials for embroidery.
Susan Odhiambo is a mother of two children, she lives with her family in Kisumu, a rural part of Kenya. Susan works very hard at her tailoring and embroidery business within her community, to help provide for her family. At this time Susan lacks the funds needed to purchase more textile materials to continue with her business successfully.
With a loan from World Vision, Susan will be able to purchase all the textile materials needed to operate her tailoring business with success. Because of the loan, Susan will be able to expand her business, attracting new customers and increasing her income. With the additional income, Susan will be able to provide for her family's daily needs and pay for children's education.
In areas where the poor live alongside the more affluent, businesses in the service sector can be very successful. Services include flower cultivation, tailoring/sewing, transportation, repair work, beauty salons and barber shops, and restaurants. Loans are needed to begin, expand, or sustain business with tools and supplies. Loans given to entrepreneurs in the service sector account for around 7% of our loans.
