Sreymom is from Cambodia. She has 1 child. She needs a loan of $200 to buy raw material to make silk.
Sreymom lives in Takoe, Cambodia. She weaves silk and raises pigs to support her child. However, she earns very little from selling her silk so cannot buy more raw material for silk weaving or piglets to raise.
With a loan from World Vision she will be able to weave more silk and raise pigs, and save money for her child's education. Eventually she would like to expand her business by buying more pigs.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
