Chan Eng is from Cambodia. She has 5 children. She needs a loan of $350 to purchase pigs and silk.
Chan eng, the mother of five, grows seasonal vegetables and raises animals for a living. She also sells silk products. She lacks money and cannot provide enough food or medicine for her large family.
A World Vision microloan will help Chan eng to buy more pigs and to restock her silk business to supplement her farm income.
The additional income will improve her living standards and she will be able to buy medicine and adequate amounts of food to sustain her family. She will also be able to support her children's education, which is an important priority. She will reinvest any savings in her farm to keep providing her local community with vegetables and meat products.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
