Mom is from Cambodia. She needs a loan of $350 to purchase pigs and silk.
Mom supports her family by operating two businesses. She weaves silk and also raises pigs. At her current level of operation, her businesses don’t generate enough income to provide sufficient food for her family. Her goal is to expand both businesses to make them more sustainable and profitable.
Mom is requesting a loan from World Vision to purchase pigs, and also silk for weaving. With the additional income she will earn from these improvements, she will be able to provide the daily necessities for her family and pay the school fees for her two children. In the future, Mom plans to continue to invest in and grow both businesses.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
