Joseph is from Kenya. He needs a loan of $250 to buy maize seeds .
Joseph is the father of one child. He's ambitious and wants to plant maize on a larger scale to harvest and then supply it to other traders, grain stores, as well as schools. There is poor communication in the area which sometimes results in delivery delays.
A World Vision microloan will enable Joseph to purchase more maize seeds, in bulk, for an optimal harvest so he can network more in his community and grow his customer base. He plans to start a tender business for supplying the maize harvested from his farm and make even more income.
The additional income will help Paul to better support his family and dependents. He will be able to provide a good education to his child. Any savings will be reinvested in his farm to ensure his business keeps expanding, so he can provide his community with quality maize and timely deliveries.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
