Ray's Story

Ray Khoeurn is a mother of five children, she lives with her family in Battambang Province. Ray works very hard farming rice, peanuts and corn to help earn a living for her family. Ray at this time, lacks the funds needed to sustain her farming business.

With a loan from World Vision, Ray will be able to purchase seeds and fertilizer for her farmlands. Because of the loan, she'll be able to have a healthy harvest of peanuts, rice and corn to sell for profit within her community. She'll also be able to grow her business and increase her income. With the additional income, Ray will be able to provide for her family's daily needs and provide better living conditions for her family.

Industry Info

The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.

Ray's Mid Term Update December 10, 2012

Thank you for supporting a small business loan for Ray Khoeurn to expand her farming business. After receiving the loan from World Vision, she invested the $250 to purchase seeds and fertilizer.

Ray has been repaying her loan on time with her new profits. She makes weekly payments of $5.

In addition to repaying her loan, Ray is using additional income to purchase food for the family, buy supplies in bulk and purchase fertilizer. Ray's five children continue to study in school.

Thank you for supporting Ray Khoeurn’s farming business through World Vision Micro. Ray invested her small business loan of $250 to purchase seeds and fertilizer. She has made weekly payments of $5 and has now fully repaid her loan.

With the profits from her business, Ray decided to purchase fertilizer, expand her current business and purchase equipment. Ray’s goal for the future is to earn enough so that she can expand her current business and take out another loan.

Ray’s five children remain in school. Because of your donation, Ray is able to provide a better future for her children.

Thank you for providing Ray with hope and a future. These funds are now being recycled to support another hardworking entrepreneur in the same community.
