Roeurn is from Cambodia. She has 4 children. She needs a loan of $300 to purchase supplies that will improve and increase her crop yields.
Hardworking, mother of four, Roeurn provides for her family with the money she earns from the sale of rice, sesame seeds and maize that she grows on her farm. She would like to increase her crop yields but due to a lack of money she has not been able to irrigate the land or buy fertilizer.
A loan from World Vision is going to dramatically change Roeurn's situation. She will be able to irrigate her land, purchase fertilizer and weed spray, and hire help that will allow her to increase her crop yields and income. The additional money she earns will enable her to better provide for her children, pay their educational expenses, and reinvest in her farm. In the future she is planning on raising chickens and cows as an other source of income for her family.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
