Fiseha makes dresses for a living to support his family. He is good at handling his customers and believes that if he continues his business, he can be successful in generating income. However, financial constraints have become a serious challenge:
“I work as a dressmaker to support my three children. I need your financial support to develop it into a sustainable livelihood for my family. A World Vision Microloan would enable me to buy a sewing machine to increase my productivity,” he said.
With a World Vision loan Fiseha will be able to expand his business by buying a new sewing machine. With the additional profits he will be able to better provide for his family and improve their living conditions. “The additional income from my business will go towards giving my children a nutritious diet and paying for them to go to school,” he said.
As his business grows, the local people can also benefit from his service. They will no longer need to go in search of a dressmaker. In the future, Fiseha hopes to continue expanding his business and eventually open up his own shop to make his family more financially secure.
In areas where the poor live alongside the more affluent, businesses in the service sector can be very successful. Services include flower cultivation, tailoring/sewing, transportation, repair work, beauty salons and barber shops, and restaurants. Loans are needed to begin, expand, or sustain business with tools and supplies. Loans given to entrepreneurs in the service sector account for around 7% of our loans.
