Your gift to help a hardworking entrepreneur will double in impact thanks to a generous World Vision partner.
Sophorn is from Cambodia. She has 1 child. She needs a loan of $500 to restock her grocery store.
Sophorn, a mother of one, sells groceries and cosmetics for a living. She also grows rice on a farm to help support her family. Sophorn's main challenge is that she lacks the financial capital she needs to restock her grocery store. As a result, she is unable to meet the needs of her clients and her business is losing its customers.
With a World Vision loan Sophorn will be able to restock her grocery store and meet the demand of her customers. With the additional profits she will be able to pay for her family's expenses, send her children to school, and expand her grocery business. In the future Sophorn would like to own a store in the market as well.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
