Consuelo lives in a little town called Bochil in Chiapas with her husband Martin and their three daughters: Karla Jazmin, Isabel del Carmen and Monica de Jesus. She has her own bakery store and has been baking delicious bread and cakes for five years. One of the main challenges that Consuelo faces is a lack of supplies to bake with. She struggles to meet the demand of her customers.
A loan from World Vision will enable Consuelo to buy all the required ingredients needed to bake enough bread and cakes, including: eggs, oil, sugar and cheese. She hopes that this would allow her to meet her customers' demand and increase her sales. With the profits she earns, Consuelo will be able to better provide for her family and improve their quality of life. She will also be able to impact her community in a positive way by providing them with quality products in a local store.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
