Almaz is from Ethiopia. She needs a loan of $175 to purchase a variety of grains for store.
Almaz Mekonnen is a mother of one child, she lives with her family in Mehalmeda, a rural part of Ethiopia. Almaz works very hard maintaining her grains store within her community, to help provide for her family. At this time, Almaz lacks the funds needed to maintain her grain store business. “I faced serious financial constraint to effectively run this business. I wish I could get financial support for my business,” she said.
With a loan from World Vision, Almaz will be able to purchase all the grains needed for her to continue her business. "I believe that getting a loan is something good for me. I know that when my business grows, my income also increases and I can improve my life style. The increased income will go towards giving my children a healthy diet and any other expenses for schooling and clothing,” she said.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
