Your gift to help a hardworking entrepreneur will double in impact thanks to a generous World Vision partner.
James is from Kenya. He has 3 children. He needs a loan of $500 to purchase fertlizer and seeds.
James Mwangi is a father of three children, he lives with his family in Ngondi, a rural part of Kenya. James is a hard working farmer, growing and selling his crops to traders and markets in his local community, to help him earn a living for his family.
With a loan from World Vision, James will be able to grow more crops, which will allow him to expand his business and generate more income. This is especially significant when his country is battling a drought. With the additional income, James will be able to provide his family with better living conditions and provide for their daily needs.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
There is no community update available at this time.
While James Mwangi initially invested his business loan by purchasing fertilizer and seeds to improve his crops, he has struggled to repay his loan. Although we continued to work with James to help him reestablish his business, we regret to report he has now defaulted on his loan.
James prays he will someday be able to restart his business so he can better provide for his family. James would like to sincerely thank all the donors who partnered with him. Please pray for James and his family during this difficult time.
Despite the fact that World Vision boasts a repayment rate greater than 98%, there will always be some loans that do not get fully repaid. While World Vision does everything it can to ensure that this does not happen, it is an unfortunate reality that must be recognized when providing loans to less fortunate populations.
