Eleuteria is married to Flavio, a bricklayer. They have six children; only five of them are studying because the youngest one is only three. Eleuteria has been selling maize and beans for two years because she wanted to earn extra income to help provide a better quality of life for her family. Although she has always had enough resources to buy the most essential goods and supplies, she now needs some financial assistance to purchase wholesale seeds to increase her profits.
A World Vision microloan will help Eleuteria to buy wholesale maize, beans and pumpkin seeds in bulk at lower prices, which will increase her profit margin. Her future plan is to continue investing in this line of work; she wants a wider variety of seeds so that she can offer better variety to her customers and grow her customer base.
With the additional profits, she wants to ensure the studies of her children. She wants them to attend university so one day they can gain good-paying positions. She plans to reinvest her savings into the business, which will help her remain financially viable.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
