Abera is from Ethiopia. He needs a loan of $175 to buy sheep for raising.
A father of two, Abera was brought up in a rural area and is skilled in sheep rearing. He believes that if he keeps doing this activity, he can be successful in making a profit. However, financial constraints make it difficult for him to strengthen his business.
With a World Vision loan Abera will be able to expand his business by buying more sheep for raising and fattening. As his business grows, the locals can benefit and his income will also increase, allowing him to improve his family's living conditions and send his children to a good school.
In the future, Abera wants to buy bulls and cows for fattening as well. He also wishes to buy hybridized cows for milk. This will also benefit the locals as they need milk and milk products for their families.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
