Your gift to help a hardworking entrepreneur will double in impact thanks to a generous World Vision partner.
Chanthy is from Cambodia. She has 2 children. She needs a loan of $350 to buy rice seeds.
Chanthy Kong raises animals and grows rice for a living to support her family. Due to recent weather conditions she lost eighty percent of her crops and has since struggled to feed her family and obtain needed medical treatment. Chanthy would like to restart her farm by growing new crops but she lacks the capital to do so.
With a loan from World Vision Chanthy will be able to buy more rice seeds to replant her fields. With the profits she earns she will be able to continue as a farmer and send her children to school. Her future goal is to use the money from her next harvest to open up a grocery stall in front of her house to provide an additional source of income for her family.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
