Tamirat is from Ethiopia. He needs a loan of $175 to buy sheep for raising.
A father of two, Tamirat has a small farm where he leads his family by the income he gets from agriculture. He now wants to raise a flock of sheep on his plot of land in order to generate more income. “Fattening is quite an encouraging business sector to improve the living standard of my family. I hope a World Vision micro loan helps me in running my own business,” he said.
Tamirat lacks the financial capacity he needs to boost his new business. A loan from World Vision will enable him to buy sheep to raise and fatten on his farm. As his business grows, the locals can get access to his business and his customer base will increase. With the additional profits he will be able to better provide for his family. His future dream is to have his own house in the town someday.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
