Thuch Say operates a winery and also raises animals. She doesn't have the capital to invest, or a source of transportation, to help her improve the winery. She also has to support her husband, who has a mental illness. With so many financial concerns, she doesn't have enough money to send her children to school.
Thuch Say is requesting a loan so that she can open up a grocery store and buy more pigs. She also wants to improve the production of her winery and stabilize her business. With an increased income, her husband can get the treatment that he needs and her children can go to university. Once her business is successful, she will give back to her community by helping them to repair local roads and by helping older people.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
