Guadalupe has been selling flowers for a living. She sells flowers, ornaments, wreaths, arrangements, tuberose, gladiolus, polar, roses, carnations, cloud, and various types of flowers.
Guadalupe requires the loan to invest in flowers and festoons. With the profits, she will buy food for her family and she will be investing the rest back into her business.
Guadalupe’s goal is to open another flower shop, start a corncob stand, and she would like to open a tortilla stand.

Guadalupe Velazquez lives in Santiago Oxtempan, Mexico, and she lives with her husband.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
Home to a primarily ethnic Mazahua population, the community of Najhé is located in a mountainous region in northeastern Mexico State. The climate is sub-humid, but temperatures are typically cool due to the region’s high elevation. Windstorms are common during the early spring, followed by heavy rains in the summer and frost in the winter.
Women in Najhé continue to wear typical Mazahua dress, and some community members uphold traditional artisan practices, producing pottery, woodwork, and crafts made of wool. The primary economic activity is agriculture. Squash, beans, and fruit are grown for consumption, while corn is grown both to eat and to sell.
World Vision’s work in Najhé includes agricultural assistance to improve nutrition and family incomes; vocational training and tutoring sessions; and self-esteem workshops. We are also working to improve health conditions by training volunteers who can educate community members and by providing housing materials that will contribute to better living environments.
Mrs. Guadalupe has invested in her flower shop with purchasing: artificial and fresh flowers, scallop trim, table ornaments and heart flower ornaments. She has been busy decorating weddings and birthday parties most of the time.
Her business has improved so much that she has included prepared corncobs to her merchandise which she will sell in the flower shop. She is loyal with her repayments and she does not consider the possibility of failing to repay.
Mrs. Guadalupe wishes to increase her supplies of artificial flowers and vases for the ornaments soon. These items will become in high demand once the schools start closing. This is also the time when Godparents like to purchase gifts for their Godchildren.
Mrs. Guadalupe is thankful for the loan that she has received because it allows her to continue moving forward. She hopes to get more loans in the future to maintain her flower shop and to increase economically. She is very happy because now she has other activities besides the maintaining of her flower shop, she also sells prepared corncobs.

Now she has more costumers because she could have more variety of flower ornaments, besides people ask for new designs and sometimes she does not count on enough money to attend workshops or to buy some book to learn new designs.
She earns enough money to pay the expenses, to invest and to pay the credit. However, it is not enough because she has to invest more. She needs the credit now, to get more income and she not depends on her husband to support her family.
She is so thankful for the opportunity to grow. She hopes to continue getting the support to increase her business. This income will help her family and her to undertake her business. She needs to invest in it and to get profits. It costs so much. That is why she needs the credit. She has to stock it. She does not want that costumers get complain due to the service that she gives them.
She wants to invest in her flower shop and to save some money to undertake other business. It is an income that her family needs.
