Paula has been selling linens by catalog, as well as roasted chickens for a living. Since Paula learned about the financial opportunity offered to her through World Vision microfinance, she decided to apply for a loan. She will be using this loan to purchase chicken to roast and sell. She also plans to expand her merchandise to include bags, cactuses, and rice.
Paula hopes that she will be providing her children with a good education and their everyday needs with the profits. It is through education that they will be able to have a better life.
In areas where the poor live alongside the more affluent, businesses in the service sector can be very successful. Services include flower cultivation, tailoring/sewing, transportation, repair work, beauty salons and barber shops, and restaurants. Loans are needed to begin, expand, or sustain business with tools and supplies. Loans given to entrepreneurs in the service sector account for around 7% of our loans.

Paula says that the loan helped her to purchase catalogs, comforters, chickens, and coal.
Now she has more catalogs, and was also able to buy more chairs and tables for her other store.
She hopes to continue helping her children finish their studies.
Paula is very grateful for all the support that she has received.
"The loan helped improve my life", says Mrs. Paula. "One part of the loan I used for my catalog business, and other part in the roasted chicken business."
Mrs. Paula also used the loan for personal things, and for this reason she couldn´t ask for another loan.
"I paid the loan off late, but in full, and I didn´t ask for another loan since I had used some of the money to pay some personal debts. We should have only invested it into the business."
Thank you for supporting Mrs. Paula and World Vision Micro!
