Koeury is from Cambodia. She needs a loan of $150 to spend on her farm and to buy land.
Koeury Ou lives in Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia. She has 3 children and works as a farmer. Because there is little work or opportunity in her community, some of her family members work as laborers in Thailand. Koeury does not have the money needed to spend on necessary materials for her farm like fertilizer and methods of irrigation.
Koeury is requesting a loan so that she can improve her farm and bring in a higher yield. A larger yield will bring in more income and improve her family's living conditions. She will be able to send her children to school which will have a great impact on their lives. Moreover, any improvement to a business in Koeury's community will help to lift the entire community from poverty.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
