Meun's Story

Meun Chok is a hardwoking mom from Cambodia. Aside from growing rice, she also sells biscuits in the village while her husband works as a day laborer. Because her husband does not have any specific skill, it is often difficult to generate a stable income to support the family and pay for the medical expenses of her children.

Thus, Meun has requested a loan from World Vision in order to invest in her business. She would like to expand her small grocery store. In the future, she would also like to buy a motorbike for her husband so that he could run a transportation service. With the additional income Meun earns, Meun will be able to pay for her son's medical expenses and will be able to afford the school fees of her children.

Industry Info

The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
