Marcela's Story

Marcela lives in Acatlan, an important sugar cane area in the state of Oaxaca, a few minutes away from the sugar mill "La Margarita". She is married to Vicente, a land worker. They have an eleven-year-old son named Vicente who is attending elementary school.

Marcela has been selling sodas and candy for nine years to contribute to family expenses and to provide better opportunities for their son.

Normally, Marcela places a small table right outside her doorway. She displays and arranges all the candy. As people already know she sells sodas, she can keep them all in the fridge.

Marcela wants to use the loan to expand her inventory of sodas, cookies and different types of candy so that she can provide customers more choices.

With the loan she will be able to improve her business and her sales and contribute more to the support of her family.
