Sreytouch is from Cambodia. She has 5 children. She needs a loan of $525 to buy cloth.
Sreytouch owns a grocery store, and she also works as a tailor. Her husband is a farmer, but they need additional income to support their five children. However, Sreytouch does not have the funds to keep her business running. She will use a loan from World Vision to purchase cloth, which will help her business get ahead and increase her profit.
When Sreytouch's grocery and tailoring business succeeds, it will promote economic growth in her village as well. Its most direct impact will be upon Sreytouch's family, though. The additional income she expects to make will help her provide for her children's education so that they will be able to escape the cycle of poverty.
Retail is a quick and scalable way to begin earning a profit. Many entrepreneurs begin with stalls at markets or even at home and need a loan to expand or increase their inventory. Others may be ready to open a small store. Goods purchased from loan funds range from clothing, grocery or sundry items to jewelry, candy, perfume or health and beauty supplies. Loans in the commerce sector account for around 33% of our loans.
