Haer supplements her husband’s income by growing rice and raising pigs and cows. She faces the challenge of insufficient capital to run her businesses properly. She recently purchased piglets to raise and sell, but lacks the funds she needs for their feed and for investing in her rice farming. She wants to properly support her businesses to make them more profitable so she can improve living conditions for her family.
Haer is requesting a loan from World Vision so she can purchase animal feed and invest in her rice farming. With the additional income she will earn from these improvements, she will be able to provide the daily necessities for her family and her five children will be able to attend school. Haer plans to continue to invest in and grow her businesses. She hopes to be able to cultivate more land in the future and to receive training in improved cultivation practices.
The Agriculture business sector covers all farming and livestock activities. Some entrepreneurs request loans to help in securing supplies and equipment. Others want to buy more animals to breed or purchase feed and medicines. The majority of our loan clients live in rural communities where agriculture is already understood as a business model. It is for this reason that approximately 50% of our loans are in the agricultural sector.
